- Scan the event QR code or open the link from the organizer.
- When Koine opens the current event, choose your listening language.
- If you received a short event code instead, open the Koine listener, enter it and choose Join service.
Some organizations use one permanent QR every week. When an event is live, it opens automatically. Between events it shows the organization or room and waits for the next event; that is not a broken link.
On iPhone, a scan may open Koine's instant App Clip. On other phones it may open the browser or installed Koine app. The listening steps are the same.
Choose or request a language
Koine shows the languages available now. Choose one for translated captions and, when enabled, translated audio. When Original is available, it means the room language and is marked Transcript only.
To change later, choose the language pill at the top. If your language is missing, choose Request language, find it and send the request. The booth must approve it before translation starts.
Read captions
Captions begin when the booth is live and the speaker starts. Scroll upward to reread earlier lines; choose Live to return to the newest text.
Open the gear to change word-by-word or line-by-line text and text size.
Hear translated audio
Your browser may show Start listening before it can play sound. Tap it once. In the room, use earbuds so the translated voice does not echo into the microphone.
Open Gear → Audio for Sound and volume. If the event supports live rewind, choose Rewind 15 seconds and return to Live when ready. When Original is available, Live room audio plays the room's own sound rather than a translation.
Check connection health
Tap the status dot to see phone network, booth, captions and audio health. If the feed has stopped, choose Try again or Gear → Refresh. Switching between venue Wi-Fi and mobile data can help when one connection is unstable.
Read BibleSense passages
After the booth approves a recognized passage, it appears as a Bible card in the listener feed. Expand it to read the available published Bible translation and open the reference in YouVersion, Bible Gateway or Logos.
Open Gear → Bible to show or hide Bible cards and transcript lines. Availability depends on the event's configured Bible sources.
When the mobile app helps
The browser is the fastest door for live captions and audio. Install Koine when you want to keep highlights, verses and notes, return to event history, replay available recordings or use saved content with Koine Intelligence. Live listening remains available without an account.
