LiveVoice or Koine for live translation at a church or event?

LiveVoice is a live-audio platform first: it carries human interpreters, guided tours and silent conferences to attendees' phones, and sells AI voice translation as an add-on charged by the minute for each language. Koine is built around AI translation of one room feed into voice and captions, charged by the language-hour and never by the number of listeners. If your event runs on human interpreters, LiveVoice is built for that. If it runs on AI translation in several languages, Koine's published arithmetic usually comes out lower.

What each one publishes.

Every figure about LiveVoice below is what LiveVoice states on its own site — the homepage, pricing pages, how-it-works page, help center and its blog post on church translation — checked on 31 October 2026. What LiveVoice Koine
What it is A live-audio platform on attendees' own phones, for interpretation, guided tours, silent conferencing, audio description and churches. AI voice and text translation is an add-on. One audio feed from the room — a microphone, a soundboard line or a livestream link — becomes translated voice and live captions on every listener's own phone, in the browser.
Human interpreters Yes. Bring your own, hire them through LiveVoice, or mix human and AI channels, with video for remote interpreters. Only your own. An interpreter you bring can voice any language from their phone, with Koine's AI as backup. Koine does not supply or book interpreters.
How listeners join QR code, link or a 6-digit code, with no account and no cost to the listener. On phones LiveVoice "strongly recommend[s]" its app; its help center lists the browser for computers. A QR code or a link, in the phone's own browser. No app, no account, no receivers. A listener app is optional, for notes and replay.
Languages "70+" for AI translation on the homepage; its church article gives 60+ and 70+ in different places. 132 languages, all with translated voice and captions. Up to 3 at once on Lite and Standard, 5 on the free Sunday, 8 on Pro and one-off event hours, 20 per room on Campus.
Price A day or month plan sized by how many people listen at once, from 10 to 1,000+. Starting prices: Essential USD 10 a day or USD 249 a month, Enhanced USD 16 or 399, Professional USD 32 or 806; yearly billing saves 25%. AI voice and text translation is added at USD 0.52 per minute per language; AI captions alone at USD 0.21. Also in euros. USD 10 per language-hour for a one-off event. Plans: Free, Lite USD 96, Standard USD 169 and Pro USD 399 a month, also in NOK, SEK and EUR, with annual billing saving two months; Campus is priced on request.
Listeners The plan price rises with the number of simultaneous listeners. Going over the limit books an extra day plan automatically. Each language is translated once and shared by everyone who selects it, so the bill follows languages and hours, never heads, and nobody is cut off. One-off event hours have no listener limit.
Free start A free test plan for up to 3 participants. Non-profit discounts on request. A free Sunday or event: up to 3 hours in up to 5 languages, sized for 25 listeners, with no card. Plus a 15-minute test any time.
Delay, as published About 200 ms for the audio platform itself; AI translation in 2–4 seconds, with 85–95% accuracy claimed in its church article. No measured average published. Translated voice runs a few seconds behind the speaker and varies by language.
Screens and platforms Integrations with Zoom, Teams, Webex, Cvent, ON24 and others. Recording from Enhanced upward. Captions on the room screen through ProPresenter, EasyWorship, OBS or vMix, or the desktop overlay with PowerPoint and Keynote. BibleSense shows a spoken Bible reference in each listener's own Bible.
Where it wins Human interpretation: hiring, remote interpreters, handover and mixed human and AI channels. Very low audio delay for tours and silent conferences, and a cheap day plan when AI is not needed. AI translation priced per language-hour and never per listener, browser listening without an app, 132 languages with voice, and Scripture in the listener's own Bible.

When LiveVoice is the better choice

When the translation comes from people. LiveVoice was built to carry interpreters to phones: you can bring your own, book them through LiveVoice, run them remotely with video, and mix a human channel with an AI one. A conference with accredited interpreters in a booth, or a church with a volunteer interpreter who wants a proper channel and handover, is the shape LiveVoice was made for. Koine can carry an interpreter you bring, but it does not book them and has none of LiveVoice's interpreter tooling.

The second case is audio without translation. Guided tours, silent conferences and audio description want the original sound, fast. LiveVoice publishes about 200 milliseconds for its audio path and a day plan from USD 10, which is cheap when no AI minutes are added. And if your event lives inside Zoom, Teams, Webex, Cvent or ON24, LiveVoice names all of them.

When Koine is

When the translation comes from AI and runs in more than one language. LiveVoice's AI voice costs USD 0.52 per minute for each language, which is USD 31.20 per language-hour, on top of the day or month plan. Koine charges USD 10 per language-hour. A 90-minute service translated into two languages is three language-hours: USD 30 with Koine, and about USD 94 of AI minutes plus a day plan of at least USD 10 with LiveVoice. LiveVoice's captions-only option, at USD 0.21 a minute, narrows the gap but drops the spoken voice.

The second reason is the audience. LiveVoice's plan price climbs with the number of people listening at once, and going over the limit books another day automatically. Koine translates each language once and shares it with everyone who picks it, so a room of 40 and a room of 400 cost the same.

Third, the phone. LiveVoice recommends its app on phones; Koine is built for the browser, so a visitor scans the code at the door and is listening a few seconds later. Koine also covers 132 languages with voice against LiveVoice's 70+, and shows Bible references in each listener's own published translation, which LiveVoice's own church article admits AI tends to miss.

What the table cannot show

Both use machine translation for the AI part, and neither of us will tell you whose is better. LiveVoice's 85–95% accuracy figure is its own, and we have not seen an independent test of it; Koine publishes no measured average. The honest test is ten minutes of your own speaker, in your own room, with somebody bilingual listening. Neither AI replaces a qualified interpreter for medical, legal or contractual conversations.

Questions

Common questions.

What does LiveVoice cost?

A day or month plan whose price depends on how many people listen at once. Starting prices are USD 10 a day or USD 249 a month on Essential, rising through Enhanced and Professional; yearly billing saves 25%. AI voice and text translation is added at USD 0.52 per minute per language, and AI captions alone at USD 0.21. Checked 31 October 2026.

Is Koine cheaper than LiveVoice?

For AI translation, usually. Koine charges USD 10 per language-hour and nothing per listener; LiveVoice's AI voice works out at USD 31.20 per language-hour plus a plan priced by audience size. For human interpreters or untranslated audio, LiveVoice's day plan without AI minutes can be the cheaper option.

Do listeners need an app?

Not with Koine: they scan a QR code and listen in the browser, and the app is optional. LiveVoice listeners also join by QR code, link or code with no account, but LiveVoice strongly recommends its app on phones.

Can I use human interpreters with Koine?

Yes, if you bring them. An interpreter can voice a language from their own phone, with Koine's AI as backup. If you need interpreters supplied, remote interpreter video or a formal handover between interpreters, LiveVoice is built for that.

How many languages does each support?

Koine supports 132 languages, all with translated voice and captions. LiveVoice states 70+ for AI translation; with human interpreters, the languages are whatever your interpreters speak.
